When I heard that the Interweave Press book, Favorite Socks, was released early I wanted it right away. While I was in the city yesterday for my father's funeral, I went to one of my favorite local yarn stores in search of this book. There it was, just one book, on the sock shelf in the store. I picked it up and carried it around for awhile. I perused some yarn but didn't purchase any. Not one skein. All I left the store with was this book. And that was enough.
Now I have access to some wonderful patterns and plenty of inspiration. I know that many people have knit most of the patterns in this book before (waving lace and go with the flow) but there have got to be many of us who haven't had access to the patterns before. I can see a wonderful Favorite Socks KAL starting up as soon as more people own the book.
I tried to buy this book yesterday through Knitpicks! They said they didn't have it! Waaahhh!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for that book - I do have most of the old issues, but it would be wonderful to have them all in one organized place!
ReplyDeleteYes, when you mentioned owning it I was surprised because I thought it was going to come out next month. But I saw it when I visited my LYS today. Really gorgeous. And there are quite a few patterns from copies of IK that I don't have or that were not printed in IK. I was most skeptical about that because I didn't want a bunch of repeats.
ReplyDeleteWaving Lace is a great pattern; I wouldn't hesitate to do it again, but maybe with a slightly bigger yarn so I can take out a repeat to fit it better to my small feet.
You will have to give us a review of the book. How far is the Nashua yarn store from you? I have never been to that store.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even heard about that book! I can feel another book purchase coming on as well as another KAL.
ReplyDeleteYou have some kinda luck girl! And yes, there are some of us who don't even know what you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteBut you reminded me to buy my back issue of the Winter 2006 IK. :) I have a bit of extra money because my LYS owner didn't charge me full price for my spinning lessons. Hooray!
