The Christmas stockings are now officially hung. My middle son is a stickler for tradition and he just could not wait to hang our stockings. You may notice that there are only 4 stockings instead of 5. Look more carefully. Behind the stocking on the left there is a second stocking. That is because I found our stocking hangers at Goodwill for 89 cents a piece and I've always been too cheap to find another hanger that would match. So my husband and I share a hanger. Someday I really should break down and buy a fifth hanger.
Some of you may recall that these stockings were the very first items I ever learned how to knit. I talked about it back in October. I'm always amazed when I take them out every year and remember my friend who taught me to knit and kept telling me I had "potential". I didn't know anything about knitting so when she told me I could knit a Christmas stocking for my first sock, I believed her.
I LOVE your stockings!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful stockings! What an inspiration you are. I homeschool also (4 still at home, 2 off to college) but found the idea of knitting Christmas stockings for everyone completely daunting! I'm thrilled just to have finished 5 knitted gifts for Christmas this year. Maybe I'll start knitting Christmas stockings in January for next year! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThey look wonderful! I love them!
ReplyDeleteI love traditions too. We don't even have stocking hangers, I use pushpins. *sigh* One day I'll break down and buy some!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the birthday wishes! Sorry you can't read my blog :( If I could find a blogger layout that was purple (and that I liked) I would be using that.
Did you make those gorgeous stockings? I am going to knit some this year. I tried to find your email to drop you a note.Talk about a small world....you said you live near Barrington. I live in Barrington. Nice to know there is another knitter around. I love Margo's shop in Dover and the Elegant Ewe is great too. Have you ever been to Charlotte's Web in Exeter. I really LOVE that store. They have a HUGE selection of patterns.
ReplyDeleteWow!! Those are beautiful Beth.
ReplyDeleteI am having so much trouble just knitting socks I don't know if I dare attempt something of that proportion. I have begun another pair of socks...going great and then realized I need to rip out about 10 row. Oh, well could be worse!
You inspire me.
